The story of my rape is full of those “How-could-you-be-so-stupid?” moments that enable outsiders –– often police, district attorneys and academic staff –– to dismiss a victim’s claims. As if a woman’s “stupidity” can magically transmute rape into not-rape. As if naïveté is a rapeable offense.

Among the things that I have not done prior to 2012 are:
- Take part in a Studio 126 Exhibition
- Take part in a exhibition in a privately owned gallery
- Lose a long term job as the contract had run out
- Pass the Audit Elective FAE exam
- Become a Fully Qualified Chartered Accountant
- Went to a gay bar
- Read a Stephen King book
- Read a book by a Russian Author (Metro 2033)
- Smoked Black Devil cigarettes
- Got adopted by a cat
- Went to an event organised by an Occupy group
- Went off the whole Occupy thing after going to an event organised by an Occupy group
- Attended a Vigil for an Indian woman
- Gave money to a Kickstarter campaign
- Rode a bullet train
- Saw Dead Can Dance Live
- Ate authentic Hungarian Goulash and Noodles
- Saw an 800 old lime tree
- Attended a Belgian agricultural fair
- Went out partying until half past three in the morning with no hangover or anything similar
- Ran into a Corkman at a rock concert in Berlin
- Realised how sissy-like and whiny some fans of Industrial music can be (Fans of Nachtmahr in particular)
- Became aware of the passive sexism in big name Industrial acts like Nachtmahr and Combichrist
- Went travelling around Europe (Actually, a lot of things I haven’t done before could be put down under this heading)
- Saw a band play live in the city I first discovered them a few years previously
- Purchased a Neo-Classical album
- Watched Battle Royale
- Drank Cherry Beer
- Visited Brussels, Amsterdam, Hannover, Leipzig, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Graz, Venice, Padua and Milan.
- Bought a band’s tour t-shirt for the tour the band was on
- Drank homemade Liqueur
- Drank homemade Mead
- Drank coffee out of a cup purchased at a role-playing convention
- Was gifted art by a friend who is a professional artist
- Went on the dole
- Took driving lessons
- Took a driving test
- Failed a driving test
- Purchased a pocket watch (cheap one mind)
- Drank Sake (The wine variety)
- Saw the changing of the guard at a country’s seat of parliment
- Saw the Royal Horse Guard
- Went to a barbeque hosted by a doctor.
- Went to a table-tennis match held in a church
- Purchased a copy of Private Eye
- Went to a Swiss art show
- Forgot I tried to bring some wine home in the hand luggage for a plane trip and had to get it sorted.
- And got my portrait painted

Something that should no doubt interest music fans out there and anyone looking to record an album. How things have changed, eh? Also, at the risk of sounding like an arrogant tosser (Probably am one too you know) I have one of those posters she mentioned at the end of the post. Just boastin’ is all.
Looking back over the past 15+ years at my journey as an independent musician and thinking on my (first) band, the Machine in the Garden, I’m struck by how hard it was back then. Not that it’s not hard to be a musician now, but sometimes I’m amazed at all the hurdles we overcame fifteen years ago…

On Friday I received the news that I passed the last of my Final Admission Exams for Chartered Accountants Ireland, which in short means that I am now a Chartered Accountant!!!! Woohoo!!!
Spent Friday celebrating in town as well as catching up with the office and my old workmates. Now I just need to find a job and earn that lovely lovely accountant money. In the meantime, I’ve a stack of photos to sort out as well as the job hunt. That should keep me busy for a while.
